Project Description
Loano is the typical Ligurian hamlet by the sea:
with its promenade, the colourful houses and many little streets and squares where smells, colours, voices, music, bars and little shops blend together. During summer nights the old town comes to life thanks to colourful markets selling objects made by craftsmen, that allow tourists to discover another side of Loano.
You can not miss the new Marina of Loano, a modern leisure port that has been awarded the Blue Flag for Marinas. Here there are not only boat structures that lead the field, but also shops, bars and restaurants, so that families can enjoy a wonderful summer night or a winter afternoon.
But Loano is also history:
you can not miss a visit to the Medieval hamlet and the Castle of Dorias on top of the hill. The Old Town of Loano is one of the best preserved in Liguria and there you can visit important monuments, such as Palazzo Doria with its gardens and a beautiful sixteenth-century fountain.
If you are looking for an active holiday, Loano offers a lot of possibilities to satisfy your passion for sport: in addition to beach volley, diving, sailing and surfing, there is a sports hall to play basketball, volleyball, with an indoor swimming-pool, an outdoor Olympic swimming-pool, tennis fields, soccer fields and a bowling ground. Along itineraries to travel by bike or on foot you can find exclusive golf fields, equestrian centres and horse farms
Loano has also a hinterland to discover: behind Loano there is another beautiful place: Toirano. This old Medieval hamlet is famous for its wonderful caverns that hold the greatest cemetery of bears in Europe.
