One of the most beautiful trails in Liguria
If you love breathtaking views and coastal hikes, the Noli Varigotti walk is an experience you can’t miss! This panoramic trail, among the most stunning on the Riviera di Ponente, offers incredible sea views, connecting two of Liguria’s most charming towns: Varigotti and Noli.
Perfect for families, the Noli Varigotti trail is ideal for a nature-filled day out, with scenic stops and unforgettable viewpoints.
Pack your backpack (and your camera!): we’re taking you on the Varigotti Noli hike, a trail full of beauty, history, and unforgettable moments.
We start from Varigotti, a charming hamlet of Finale Ligure. It’s easy to reach: simply take the A10 highway and exit at Finale Ligure, or choose the train with frequent connections to the Finale Ligure station.
Where the trail begins
The walk starts in Varigotti, the enchanting hamlet of Finale Ligure, and from there the path climbs toward the headland of Punta Crena, offering a spectacular view over the Baia dei Saraceni.
The trail stretches about 3 km and takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete. Heads up: there are a few challenging sections that require a bit of effort! The first part climbs quickly and may seem tiring, but I remember that as a child, with the sun warming my skin and the scent of the sea in the air, I would run up to the Saracen tower with my dad, wearing my favorite swimsuit and colorful flip-flops. Every step was an adventure, and once we reached the top, the breathtaking view made us forget all the effort. Don’t be discouraged: kids will have a blast, just like I did!
From here, continue on to the Church of San Lorenzo, a Benedictine abbey founded in the 13th century, and a remarkable example of the area’s religious architecture. After soaking in the beauty and history of this place, it’s the perfect time to enjoy your packed lunch.
Be sure not to miss the Grotta dei Falsari, also known as the Brigands’ Cave, a stunning natural balcony with incredible sea views!
Once you reach your destination, don’t forget to explore the historic center of Noli, a captivating medieval village. You’ll discover the Church of San Paragorio, the Castle of Noli, and enjoy a walk through its charming cobbled streets and ancient stone houses, each telling a story of this historic maritime town.
Time to head back! But first, treat yourself to a sweet reward—you’ve earned it.
To get a feel for the views:
A sweet little tip
What more can we say? Beyond the beauty of the trail, there’s one more experience you simply can’t miss!
As you’ve probably guessed, here at Riviera dei Bambini we have a sweet tooth—so here’s our tip: after your hike, on your way back to Varigotti, make a stop at Panificio Cassina, located on Via Aurelia heading toward Finale Ligure. Around that time, they usually take out the freshly baked jam-filled pastries: imagine the sunset, the vivid memories of the day still fresh in your eyes, tired legs… and a warm pastry in your hands.
We’re sure this day will become one of those unforgettable memories, enchanting both young and old! You won’t forget that magical moment when the sky turns orange and red at sunset, and the sea reflects every hue in a breathtaking light show.
